North Carolina – 118 deaths have been reported this year in North Carolina home fires. Most of the fires occurred because there was no smoke detector.
National Fire Prevention Week is a safety campaign, observed on annual basis from 9 to 13 October.
Firefighters are striving to make people aware of the causes of house fires. They encourage everyone in North Carolina to use fire prevention tips for safety:
Fire Prevention Tips for Homeowners
Install Smoke Alarms
3 in 5 houses in North Carolina had no smoke alarms when the fire occurred. Install the best smoke detector and maintain it. You need to have a smoke detector in every sleeping area at least. Check all your home safety devices every month to make sure they are working.
Stay in the kitchen till you are done cooking. If you have to go out of the kitchen for an extended period of time, turn off your stove.
Use Personal Panic Buttons
In order to prevent home accidents, keep a personal panic button with you. You can also use keychain fob that comes with your home monitoring system devices for safety. It includes a panic button. For more home safety tips and details about home alarm systems, feel free to contact us.
